Orientation of foreign faculties for 2014-2015 school year was held by the university

On September 4 the University held orientation for the foreign faculty for the 2014-2015 school year. Officials from the International Exchange & Cooperation Department, Teaching Affairs Department, School of Foreign Languages, School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, College of Law & Business, as well as all of the foreign teachers were in attendance. Li Yong, the deputy director of the International Exchange & Cooperation Department, hosted the meeting.

“The university has always attached great importance to the attraction and the internalization of talents,” said Mr. Dai, the director of the International Exchange & Cooperation Department. “Hiring foreign teachers is an essential part of our plans for increasing the quality classroom instruction and giving our students a deeper understanding international perspectives and cultural diversity.” Mr. Dai further expressed his hope that Chinese and foreign teachers can learn from each other and that through working together we can further enhance our cultural diversity  and become a more international university. Subsequently, Dean He Mingxia of the School of Foreign Languages and Deputy Director Wang Quanyi of the Teaching Affairs Department, went over some of the relevant instructions and regulations for the foreign teachers.

Brandon Boni then shared with us his experience on working at our school as a foreign teacher. Mr. Boni is from the U.S. from the state of New Jersey. In his speech Mr. Boni told us that it was his fourth year teaching in HBUE. During this time he said that he has witnessed the immense development in and around the university and of the great endeavor made by the university in order to improve the living and teaching environment for foreign teachers. These are among the main reasons, Mr. Boni said, that have led him to stay at our school for such a long time. Mr. Boni also expressed his belief that in their contributions to the development of our students, the new foreign teachers will also come love with our beautiful campus and wonderful university.

On behalf of the university Mr, Dai presented mooncakes as gifts to the foreign teachers for celebration of the Mid-autumn Festival and he expressed to them his wish that they enjoy their work and their stay in the university.

This year the university has hired nine foreign teachers. There teachers have come to us from across the U.S., the U.K. Australia and South Africa. There is a wealth of diversity, education and experience between these teachers. Many of them have specialized training and all of them have had experience teaching either in a language center or a university setting.
