(Correspondent Dan Jin）On April 12, the Party branch of the English Department of the School of Foreign Languages held a Party Day meeting on the theme of “Promoting Political Leadership of the Party Organizations at the Grass-root Level and Cohesion of Teachers and Students” in Room 516 of the Humanities and Arts Building. The meeting was chaired by Yang Chunyan, Secretary of the Party branch of the English Department.

The steps and activities of the meeting were strictly arranged in accordance with the unified arrangements and requirements of the School Party Committee. First, all party members studied the contents of the Party’s grass-root organizations in Chapter 5 of the “Party Constitution”. Second, the Secretary Yang combined her own understanding of the contents to interpret concepts and connotations of political leadership and elaborated the organizational competence of grass-roots party organizations from the following aspects.

1. We must deeply understand the importance and urgency of promoting the overall strength of grass-roots party organizations;

2. Guided by the enhanced political leadership, we should implement the leadership of the Party at the grass-root level;

3. We should promote the overall coverage of the Party and its work on the premise of promoting organizational coverage;

4.The grass-root party organizations can truly become the “backbone” of the masses on the basis of cohesion of teachers and students.

Some other discussions were conducted, focusing on the issues such as what political leadership is, how political leadership of grass-root party organizations and cohesion of teachers and students could be enhanced, etc.

Hou Xianglang, Zhang Jinjun and Huang Xinxiang and other party members gave their own opinions respectively, proposing the improvement of leadership and organizational strength of the Party organizations at the grass-root level in our school.

This Theme Party Day inspired the vitality of grass-root party organizations in SFL, which could guide party members to raise their consciousness of responsibility and services. All the Party members present were encouraged to take active actions and give full play to the political functions of the party organizations and to earnestly enhance the creativity, cohesion, and effectiveness of the party organizations at the grass-roots level, aiming to contribute more to the development of HBUE.
