Of its 28 faculty members, the School of Journalism and Communication now has 24 full-time teachers, four professors, an on-training expert, six associate professors, and 12 doctors, doctoral candidates and doctors with national support. All young to middle-aged teachers have master’s degrees or above.
Since starting enrollment in 2006, the Journalism program now sets up two major fields, Media Operation and Management (with 173 students), and Advertising Communication (with 153 students).
Besides cultivating student talents in Journalism and Communication, the School also undertakes most public Humanity courses, among whichCollege Chinese is the excellent course;Applied Writing,Media Operation and Management, as well asNews Interview and Writingare high-quality courses at the university level. Additionally, there is now a test station for Mandarin, a ZHC center, and Institute of Language and Cultural Communication within the School.
Teachers of the School have published over 20 academic monographs, 200 papers in a variety of academic journals, and taken on over 30 provincial, ministerial and department-level research projects. There are two works sponsored by a company from Taiwan and the Phoenix Satellite TV has made a 5-episode-documentary based on these works.
