In order to enhance students' social adaptability and professional application skills, and further promote cooperation with off-campus practical teaching bases, the School of Finance and Public Administration organized a three-week mid-term internship program for all students of the 2022 intake during the summer of 2024. This internship received great attention and strong support from the school leaders and achieved great success.
A total of 298 students participated in this mid-term internship. Among them, 261 students went to various off-campus internship bases such as the Finance Bureaus of various districts and counties in Hubei Province, the Tax Bureau of East Lake New Technology Development Zone, the Tax Bureau of Jiangxia District, the Tax Bureau of Hongshan District, Hubei Provincial People's Hospital, the Hong'an County Government, the Liurenba Town Government of Daye City, Longhu Group, and Hubei Culture and Tourism Hotel Group for centralized practical training. The remaining 37 students chose to carry out independent practical training in the public sector of their hometown.
To ensure the smooth progress of the internship, the school established a mid-term internship leadership team headed by Wei Tao, the dean, and formulated a detailed work plan. The leadership team implemented process monitoring and quality management throughout the internship process to ensure that every aspect of the internship activities was effectively implemented.
Before the official start of the internship, the school leaders and department heads actively communicated with the off-campus practical teaching bases to determine the number of trainees, off-campus instructors, and specific training requirements. At the same time, the school held several mobilization meetings and special deployment meetings to provide sufficient preparation time and clear guidance for the interns.
On June 27, Dean Wei Tao hosted a special deployment meeting for the 2022 mid-term internship. At the meeting, Dean Wei emphasized the importance of the mid-term internship, pointing out that it was a necessary condition for students to graduate and an important means for the school to cultivate talents for the public sector. He required all instructors to unify their thoughts and actions to ensure the safe and efficient conduct of the internship activities.
On July 5, the school held a mobilization meeting for the 2022 mid-term internship. At the meeting, Ren Li, the vice dean, elaborated on the significance and purpose of the internship from three aspects: What is the mid-term internship?, Why should we carry out the mid-term internship?, and How to carry out the mid-term internship? He encouraged students to be diligent, cautious in speech, and agile in action during the internship, and to learn and grow through practice. Wu Xiong, the deputy secretary of the Party committee, emphasized the importance of safety, reminding students to raise their self-protection awareness and comply with the management regulations during the internship.
On July 8, the first batch of internships began. With the guidance of instructors Liu Bingxi, Song Feifei, Lin Shixian, Yuan Wenyi, Wu Xiong, He Ruibo, Xiang Nan, and Shen Jie, 155 students from our school went to various Finance Bureaus in Hubei Province, the Tax Bureau of Wuhan East Lake New Technology Development Zone of the State Taxation Administration, the Tax Bureau of Wuhan Jiangxia District of the State Taxation Administration, the Tax Bureau of Wuhan Hongshan District of the State Taxation Administration, the Hong'an County Government, the Liurenba Town Government of Daye City, Hubei Provincial People's Hospital, Longhu Group, and Hubei Culture and Tourism Hotel Group to carry out mid-term internships. At the same time, 37 students carried out independent internships in the public sector they contacted and received specific guidance from professional instructors. The first batch of internships successfully ended on July 26.
On August 5, the second batch of internships began. With the guidance of instructors Song Feifei, Lin Shixian, Hao Erhu, and He Ruibo, 106 students went to the Tax Bureau of Wuhan East Lake New Technology Development Zone of the State Taxation Administration, the Tax Bureau of Wuhan Jiangxia District of the State Taxation Administration, the Tax Bureau of Wuhan Hongshan District of the State Taxation Administration, and Hubei Provincial People's Hospital to carry out mid-term internships, which officially ended on August 23. After the end of the second batch of internships, the school's mid-term internship program in 2024 came to a close.
During the internship, the instructors first helped students clarify the goals and tasks of the internship and guided them to combine the theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom with practical operations. In internship units such as tax bureaus and finance bureaus, the instructors led students to gain an in-depth understanding of core business processes such as tax collection and administration, budget preparation and execution, and guided them to participate in specific project work. In internship units such as hospitals and enterprises, the instructors focused on guiding students to understand the operation mode and management process of the organization, encouraging them to actively participate in practice and improve their practical operation skills.
Through this mid-term internship program, students not only improved their professional quality and practical ability but also enhanced their teamwork and communication skills. They all expressed that they would cherish this valuable internship experience, continue to work hard to learn and improve themselves, and lay a solid foundation for their future career development.
The great success of the mid-term internship program of the School of Finance and Public Administration in 2024 is inseparable from the strong support of the school leaders, the careful organization of the school leaders, and the hard work of the instructors.
