On the afternoon of June 28, professor Ji Jianjun from the state University of Wisconsin was invited to give a lecture entitled "Theory, Method and Practice of American Sociology". Vice dean professor Yuan Wenyi, professor Yu Junhua and young teachers listened to the report.

Professor Ji Jianjun comprehensively analyzed the classical sociological theories and application values in different development stages of American sociology. Firstly, introduced the historical background of sociology and theoretic premise of change from social philosophy to sociology, then from expounding the concrete sociological theory, it respectively introduced the symbol theory, social change theory, structural functionalism theory, conflict theory, social stratification theory, social structure theory and other basic thought connotation of classic sociological theory through expounding and interpreting theory of the real cases and empirical facts. The explanatory process was in simple terms, cited various authorities extensive and quite effective.
