In December 2019, the Ministry of Education announced the list of national and provincial first-class undergraduate specialty construction sites in 2019. The undergraduate major of tourism management in our  was awarded the national first-class undergraduate major construction site. Relying on the independent tourism and hotel management , the tourism management major of our  has a long history of running schools, the largest scale of students and the most uniform professional categories in Central China, and has great social influence. In recent years, under the guidance of the school's three haves and three realities talent training concept, our  has actively optimized the professional layout, promoted the professional connotation construction, and achieved remarkable results in professional construction. The major of tourism management has been awarded the national experimental teaching demonstration center (experimental teaching center of tourism and catering), the undergraduate project of talent training plan of strategic emerging industries in Hubei Province (tourism management), the provincial practice training base of tourism management (practical teaching base of Western Hubei Eco-cultural Tourism Circle Investment Co., Ltd.), the provincial excellent grass-roots teaching organization of Hubei universities (tourism management department), the post discipline of Chutian Scholar of tourism management, and the excellent young and middle-aged scientific and technological innovation team of Hubei universities (tourism spatial structure and regional development)

There are 27 full-time teachers in tourism management major, including 6 professors, 11 associate professors and 21 doctors. Full-time teachers include one young tourism expert from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (National Tourism Administration), one consulting expert on tourism development decision-making in Hubei Province, one member of the teaching steering committee of Hubei Province's tourism management s and universities, and three judges of the national tour guide qualification examination. Professor Ma Yong, a high-level leader of the National Ten Thousand Talents Program, is the distinguished professor of the . Professor Cai Xiaomei from the School of Tourism Management of South China Normal University has set up a post as a lecture professor for Chutian Scholar. In the past five years, students majoring in tourism management have won many awards in discipline competitions, including 3 training programs for national  students' innovation and entrepreneurship programs, 10 programs for 10,000 tourism talents by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (National Tourism Administration), 2 programs for 2019  students' team practice support and training by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and nearly 40 awards for other disciplines and professional competitions at provincial and ministerial levels.
