Overview

　　Hubei University of Economics was one of the earliest universities that  offered accounting. Yang Rumei (1882~1966), the first principal of Hubei  Business School established by Zhang Zhidong in 1907, was a celebrity in  accounting circles of the Republican period. The discipline of accounting became  an independent discipline separated from that of business in 1951.

　　The School now has 50 full-time teachers, among which there are nine  professors, 23 associate professors, a distinguished professor of “Chutian  Scholars Project”, a chair professor, 11 academic leaders and core teachers at  the provincial and ministerial levels as well as university level, a National  Excellent Teacher and a National Advanced Accountant. Twenty-six are doctors (or  doctorial students) and more than 90% hold master’s degrees or above.

　　The School has four departments: Department of Accounting, Department of  Financial Management, Department of Auditing, and Department of Assets  Valuation, a teaching center of Master of Professional Accounting and a  development research center of accounting in Hubei province. It has six  undergraduate majors, Accounting, Accounting (CPA-oriented), Accounting  Specialty (ACCA class), Financial Management, Auditing and Assets Valuation,  with undergraduates numbering more than 2400 and 86 postgraduates. 

　　The discipline of accounting was judged as the key discipline in Hubei  Province in 2006, the discipline of business administration (accounting) was  approved as the provincial key discipline in 2012 and the discipline of  accounting was approved as the one posted for the distinguished professor  of“ChutianScholars Plan” in 2008. The specialty of accounting is a provincial  brand specialty of Hubei, a featured program at national level and an  experimental program for comprehensive reform in Hubei.Basic  AccountingandIntermediate Financial Accounting are provincial excellent courses  of Hubei. The School has conducted over three National Social Science Fund  Projects and participated in over 30 projects, including major projects of the  National Social Science Fund, National Natural Science Fund, and the Humanities  and Social Science Fund of the Ministry of Education. In addition, the School  has won more than 20 prizes in science and teaching research at the provincial  and ministerial levels, and also published hundreds of academic papers in  authoritative and core journals.

　　The School of Accountancy began to co-enroll and cultivate Accounting  postgraduates in 2009 together with Hubei University, and obtained the  qualification of MPAcc education in 2011.
