Academic Lecture on the "Co-Creation" Concept and Its Practical Application in Grassroots Community Governance Held at Our College

News from this website (Correspondent: Yang Jie) - On November 24th, 2023, the Art and Design College organized an academic lecture and teacher training activity in room R412 of Dexin Building, focusing on the New Finance and Economics reform. The lecture featured Professor Wang Haitao, Vice Dean of the School of Marxism at Hubei University of Economics, who delivered a presentation titled The Concept and Practical Application of 'Co-Creation' in Grassroots Community Governance. Deputy Dean Zhang Yang presided over the lecture, which was attended by all faculty members of the college.

Professor Wang Haitao elaborated on the significant meaning, historical context, profound connotations, key implementation points, and grassroots practical cases related to the Co-Creation concept. Emphasizing the development ideology centered on the people as highlighted in the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Professor Wang discussed the work approach of Co-Creation proposed during the 12th Party Congress of Hubei Province. This approach aims to construct a target-oriented urban-rural social governance system, advocating vertical to the end, horizontal to the edge, co-building, co-governing, and co-sharing. It clarifies the essence of Co-Creation as decision-making co-consultation, development co-construction, construction co-management, results co-evaluation, and outcomes co-sharing. The practice of Co-Creation revolves around people, focusing on urban and rural communities, aiming to improve local practical matters. It organizes the strengths and resources of the government, society, and the masses to form a new situation of co-consultation, co-construction, co-management, co-evaluation, and co-sharing, further promoting the comprehensive development of local culture.

Expounding on the profound connotations of the Co-Creation theory, Professor Wang Haitao shared the specific experiences and practices of comprehensive environmental governance and micro-space design transformation in the Baiyunhu Community of Xicheng Street, Zengdu District, Suizhou City. He emphasized the importance of constructing organizational structures, strengthening systematic thinking, adhering to the mass-oriented approach, innovating working methods, and optimizing institutional mechanisms.

Deputy Dean Zhang Yang expressed sincere gratitude for Professor Wang Haitao's insightful lecture, highlighting the significance of Co-Creation in grassroots community governance. He noted that the concept provides valuable guidance for current academic research, especially in the areas of management services, professional development reform, faculty team construction, innovative talent cultivation, and the advancement of student affairs. The deep connotations and goals of Co-Creation aim to form a new grassroots working ecology of co-consultation, co-construction, co-management, co-evaluation, and co-sharing. This provides new ideas for specific measures in the college's New Finance and Economics reform process, offering crucial guidance in various aspects.

Deputy Dean Zhang Yang recommended that all teachers in the college further integrate their research directions, timely understand and grasp key information and important roles of policy guidance, and utilize disciplinary advantages and professional characteristics to address specific problems in local economic and social development. He encouraged the production of research results in areas such as community environmental renewal, beautiful countryside construction, and the inheritance of excellent culture, promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese traditional culture.
