The large-scale wall painting activity "Paint the School Together" was officially launched

In the news (By Correspondent: Luo Ying), on April 6th, the Co-Painting of the College large-scale mural activity was officially launched on the West Campus playground. Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President Fu Hong attended the opening ceremony. Representatives from the Academic Affairs Office, the School of Art and Design, the School of Sports Economics and Management, and the Sports Venue Management Center, as well as faculty and student representatives, participated in the opening ceremony.

In his speech, Fu Hong pointed out that a beautiful educational environment is an important element of campus culture and an essential means of realizing the function of education. The university adheres to integrating aesthetic education into the entire process of talent cultivation, constructing a model of aesthetic education that is oriented towards everyone. This includes a series of branded activities and aesthetic education teams such as Intangible Cultural Heritage into Campus, Aesthetic Education into the Community, Aesthetic Education Drawing Campus, and the Tangsun Lake Aesthetic Education Festival. This event is both an education in aesthetic sentiment and a baptism of the mind and labor. The creators, by integrating elements of Wuhan and the college's design, collaboratively paint Wuhan's culture, creating the spirit of the college. This activity helps nurture aesthetic literacy, nourish the soul with beauty, and cultivate a taste for beauty, creating an inclusive, diverse, and uplifting cultural atmosphere.

Dai Huayong, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, pointed out that this year, the university is undergoing a new round of undergraduate education teaching evaluation. As an important aspect of the five-education integration, aesthetic education should create more distinctive aesthetic activities to enrich campus culture and nurture students' minds, which is also an important part of aesthetic education.

Gu Chen, Dean of the School of Art and Design, mentioned that this mural integrates Wuhan elements and the distinctive cultural characteristics of the college. It reflects the remarkable achievements of our college's aesthetic education and hopes that the students will enhance their professional qualities and showcase their youthful demeanor through the activity.

Student representatives participating in the creation expressed in their speeches that participating in the mural activity is not only a professional practice but also a vivid aesthetic influence, showcasing the good image of art and design students while beautifying the campus environment.

This activity was planned since November 2022 and is an important part of the second Tangsun Lake Aesthetic Education Festival. More than 50 students will form a painting team and, under the guidance of teachers, will spend nearly three months completing the painting work. Through the expression of art, they aim to convey their understanding of beauty and express their love for the college. At the same time, they hope to convey this love to every college student through their works.
