On the evening of November 24, 2020, our school held an online meeting between the Montgomery Auburn University (AUM) delegation and the Sino-U.S. cooperative education project for 2019 and 2020 freshmen. Participants in this meeting are: Vice President He Huigang, International Exchange and Hong Wang, Director of the Cooperation Office, Jinjun Zhang, Deputy Director of the International Communication and Cooperation Office, and Dr. Shanta Goswami Varma, Special Assistant to the President of AUM, Director of Distance Education and Cooperation Department. This meeting was presided over by Xiaobo Zhu, who is Vice Dean for the School of Information Management and Statistics.
At the first, the host play videos of graduates students from 13 to 16 levels. The graduates students and the students cordially exchanged their learning experiences and feelings, and encouraged other students to explore their own possibilities.
Then，Director Hong Wang gave a detailed introduction to the project. She first introduced the history of cooperation between our school and AUM. Afterwards, she briefly explained the reasons for choosing to cooperate with AUM, and introduced the students' food, clothing, housing, transportation, and personal safety in the school.
After that，Vice President Huigang He made a speech. He first thanked the AUM representative professor and all students for their participation. When talking about why the cooperative project was started, he said that the internationalization of higher education is divided into internationalization of students, internationalization of teachers, internationalization of teaching and internationalization of scientific research. The cooperative project aims at the internationalization of students, introducing advanced school-running concepts, school-running technology, and high-quality teaching resources to cultivate talents with international vision and international competitiveness.
Moreover, Vice President Huigang He introduced how to achieve the training goals in the training program. He hopes that the students will maintain a positive attitude, and not only do receptive learning, but also active learning; not only learn scientific knowledge, but also understand cultural knowledge. At the end of the speech, he said that no matter how the international relations between our school and Montgomery Auburn University change, the two schools will definitely overcome many difficulties and work together.
AUM school representatives,Dr.Varma and Teacher Xiaoke Jia gave an online speech and cordially interacted with the students. The meeting set up a question-and-answer session, the students spoke enthusiastically, the professors answered patiently, and the atmosphere was active.
Finally, the American representative,Xiaoke Jia, explained the basic requirements of the AUM-HUBE project, so that the students had a preliminary understanding of the project.
