Professor Yongjin Jin from Renmin University of China came to our school to give lectures

On the morning of April 13, 2021, Professor Yongjin Jin, a professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Statistics of Renmin University of China, was invited to our school to teach the course Sampling Techniques and Applications for undergraduates in class Q1941 of statistics, and systematically explained the design and adjustment of weights. Application in sampling survey. In class, Professor Jin first asked a common question: how to restore the sample to a population? In this way, it introduces the important role of weights in sampling surveys, and introduces in detail how to design weights and how to adjust basic weights for sample size and structure based on actual cases. Through learning, students have a deep understanding of the theory and technology of using sample weights to restore and infer the overall population in sampling surveys.

Professor Jin first introduced the new situation and new environment facing the construction of statistics. Then, Professor Jin explained the opportunities and challenges brought by the integration of multiple disciplines to the development of statistics under the background of big data, and exchanged experience in the construction of first-class courses in statistics. After the meeting, Professor Jin and the participating teachers discussed the current research direction of statistics teachers in our college and the application of social science fund projects.
