Our students won the first prize in the American International College Students Mathematical Contest in Modeling

A few days ago, the results of the 2020 American International College Students Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) were announced. The team of Q1841 Chen Yujing ofour school of mathematical finance won the first prize, and the instructor was Wang Yubao .The team of Zhang Yicheng, Li Xin, and Lu Xuan won the third prize in Q1841 of Mathematical Finance of our school. The instructor is Xu Yong. Q1841 Guo Can's team won the third prize in Mathematical Finance Q1841, and the instructor is Huang Zhendong. In this competition, a total of seven teams from the school won awards, of which three from our school. 


The American International College Students Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM) is sponsored by the American Federation of Mathematics and its Applications, and is the most influential mathematical contest in modeling in the world. There are 6 questions in the competition. There are 3 questions in MCM, A is continuous, B is discrete, C is data, ICM has 3 questions, D is operations research and network science, and E is environmental science , F is entitled Policy. The content of the contest involves many fields such as economy, management, environment, resources, ecology, medicine, and safety. Participation is as a group of three students (undergraduates). Within four days, complete all the tasks from model building, solution, verification to thesis writing on the specified problem, and the final award (Outstanding Winner), special award Award nomination (Finalist), first prize (Meritorious Winner), second prize (Honorable Mentions), and successful participation award (Successful Participants). 


This competition attracted many countries and regions from the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, India, etc., including Cambridge University, Imperial College, Columbia University, Cornell University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University and so on more than a thousand colleges and universities in 20 countries, 20,948 teams (MCM 13749 Zhi, ICM 7199 branch) to participate.
