2nd International Conference for Market-Oriented Green and Low Carbon Development was held in HBUE

 

On September 26, the 2nd International Conference for Market-Oriented Green and Low Carbon Development was held in HBUE. It isco-sponsored and organized by the "Economic Review" Magazine, "China Population, Resources and Environment" Magazine, "the Singapore Economic Review" Magazine and the Carbon Emissions Trading Hubei Collaborative Innovation Center in HBUE (hereinafter referred to as the "Center"). People attended including Chen Xiangjun, Vice President of HBUE, Tian Qi, Director of Climate Department of Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Ye Chusheng, Editor in Chief of Economic Review Magazine and 120 Scholars from China and abroad. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Fenqin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of HBUE and Director of the Center.

 

In his speech Chen Xiangjun pointed out that it is the high time to have the 2nd International Conference for Market-Oriented Green and Low Carbon Development held in HBUE, especially in the context of Chinese President Xi Jinping visited United States and issued a Sino-US heads joint statement on climate change. Having in-depth discussion on the theme of green, low carbon development is the need of theoretical research and realistic demand to transform to a low-carbon economy and society. He emphasized the importance to fully consider China’s domestic conditions in carrying out researches and making policy recommendations.

 

At the conference, theme speeches were delivered by Xu Huaqing, Deputy Director of National Climate Change Strategy Research and International Cooperation Center, Xue Jinjun, the center's chief scientist and the profesor of Nagoya University, Qi Ye, Changjiang Scholar and Professor of Public Management School of Tsinghua University, Youngho Chang, Assistant Professor of Singapore Nanyang Technological University, and Sun Yongping, Deputy Director of the Center. In group discussion, academics and scholars communicated and exchanged their views on topics like "environmental management and ecological civilization construction", "energy consumption and utilization efficiency", "climate change and carbon emissions trade”, etc.

 

In addition, 27 young academics shared and discussed on their selected paper. These young scholars come from prestigious universities and research institutes including Tsinghua University, Haller University at Germany, University of Nagoya at Japan, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Carbon Emissions Trading Hubei Collaborative Innovation Center.
