Wen Xingsheng Visited Taiwan Universities to Recruit High-Level Talents

 

From October 23rd to 27th, Wen Xingsheng, CCP Party Secretary of the university led a delegation to visit Chung Yuan Christian University, Soochow University and Ming Chuan University in Taiwan. The leaders of these three universities have reached a cooperative agreement in the areas of faculty exchange, student exchange, scientific research and discipline construction.

 

Wen Xingsheng expressed his strong wish to introduce high-level talents by repeatedly citing the story of “three visits to the cottage” in the Three Kingdoms Period. Hubei University of Economics is stepping into the role of connotational development and enhancing the University’s characteristics and quality, he said, and it requires enhancement at the professional level of faculty. This is achieved by making faculty doctoral education as the core, and to improve the teaching quality by fostering the University’s internationalization and attracting advanced overseas educational resources. Wen Xingsheng pointed out that Wuhan is located in the central part of mainland China, and has been highly recognized as the national innovation city and free trade area. These achievements create a modern service industry and is in great demand Taiwan has the reputation of being advanced in higher education, especially in the fields of economics and management. Many doctors in Taiwan have overseas academic background, and these advantages can provide an effective foundation for the development of Wuhan and HBUE. He hoped to strengthen co-operations and exchanges among cross-straits of colleges and universities, and said that it would take extraordinary measures to attract high levels of Taiwanese teachers to come to our school. These teachers would be engaged in teaching classes, forming groups, conducting scientific research. We welcome outstanding Taiwanese doctoral graduates to teach in our school. At the same time, we encouraged our school faculty to visit and study in Taiwan and students to chase opportunities of short-term exchanges and further study, so that our students can have a better learning experience and our teachers can have a broader development space. In responce to Mr. Wen, the presidents of Chung Yuan Christian University, Soochow University, and Ming Chuan University all agreed to strengthen relationships and promote interactions. This will result in the joint development of higher quality education and mutually beneficial cooperation.

 

During this visit, the university held two high-level talent recruitment sessions and interviewed 12 doctoral graduates from Taiwan. Seven of which have expressed their interest in teaching at HBUE. He hopes that they will be able to recommend excellent students using their first-hand experience in HBUE to promote Taiwan's youth employment and entrepreneurship.

 

Before this trip, Wen Xingsheng visited Liu Kaichun, Deputy Secretary of the Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Hubei Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office, and reported to him the current agreement for the exchanges between HBUE and Taiwan Universities. They discussed the cross-straits exchanges policy and the relevant technical issues. Liu Kaichun suggested HBUE accumulate experience in Taiwanese talents and make it HBUE’s distinctive characteristics. He also suggested that the University make more contributions to promote provincial economic development and cross-strait exchanges.

 

The delegation members accompanied Wen Xingsheng to this visit including Xu Chuanhua, Dean of Finance School, Hu Wei, Dean of Accounting College, Wang Ping, Director of the Office of the Party Committee of HBUE, Zheng Guoxia, Director of Personnel Department, and Wang Hong, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office Director, etc.
