Vice Chancellor from Auburn University at Montgomery visited HBUE

  From October 20th to October 25th Dr. Mrinal Varma, Vice Chancellor from Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) led a delegation of three people to HBUE. Party Secretary Wen Xingsheng granted an interview to the guests and Vice President He Huigang attended the school collaborative meeting and the 5th Board Meeting of AUM Confucius Institute. The following three departments also attended the meeting: International Exchange & Cooperation Department, School of Information Management and Statistics, and the Chinese Culture of Beverage and Food Training Base.

  On the morning of Oct. 23rd, the collaborative meeting was held. He Huigang introduced the concept of school running and achievements in education, teaching, scientific research, social services and international exchanges. The two sides highly recognized project implementation to enhance the reputation of two universities and the positive role of improving the quality of personnel training. They also discussed studying the specific measures to further carry out efficient cooperation projects. Both parties agreed to expand bilateral cooperation and development level, conduct 3+1, 2+2 double degree and 3+1+1 master project.

  On the afternoon of Oct. 23rd, a meeting of the 2017 Sino-US Joint Education Program freshmen was held in the school. He Huigang hopes that the students of this program will study hard, cultivate English language ability, mathematical analysis ability, professional ability and cross-cultural communication ability, become an international vision and invoke international competitiveness of compound talents. Dr. Mrinal Varma introduced the new ideas of school management of Auburn University at Montgomery and the new measures taken by the university to implement the program. The main goal was to encourage students to strengthen confidence and work hard to realize their dreams.

  The 5th Board Meeting of Confucius Institute was held on 24th. Dr. Shanta Goswami, Dean of the Confucius Institute reported the development of Confucius Institute in recent five years as well as the work plan for 2018. The Board members then discussed the 5-year development blueprint for the Confucius Institute, with the basic principles that the Confucius Institute should be embedded in local colleges and communities, promote Chinese language and culture, enhance the Sino-US mutual understanding between the two peoples, and facilitate cultural exchanges. AUMCI is proud to be a bridge and platform between AUM as well as local communities and Chinese counterparts.

  During the visit, Dr. Mrinal Varma and his delegates also visited the school library and the the Chinese Culture of Beverage and Food Training Base, and experienced the Chinese cuisine class.
