November 18, A 6-people-delegation led by Wang Guangbin, Director of the Economic Department of Hubei Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office visited HBUE. Wen Xingsheng, Party Secretary of HBUE warmly welcomed the guests and President Qi Laying and Vice President He Huigng attended the meeting. Heads of the Personnel department, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office and other related departments participated in this meeting
President Qi Laying introduced HBUE including its history, scale, discipline characteristics and the construction of the faculty' team. He pointed out that the school is in the transition period for the connotation development and that the demand for high-level professionals is very urgent. Taiwan has a relatively advanced higher education system, in which many faculty and doctors have European and American academic background. Therefore, it can effectively meet the needs of high level professionals for our school. He stresses that the school will introduce high level professionals from Taiwan as a strategic breakthrough for strengthening our professionals team, and has already made a positive exploration. Currently, the university has 11 full-time Taiwan teachers, more than 10 short-term teachers that are Taiwanese famous professors and several Taiwanese faculty members for short-term exchange visits. These have all come together to form a multi-level, multi-dimensional Taiwanese professionals team. These initiatives have played an important role in improving the quality and internationalization of school faculty, promoting professional discipline construction, accelerating inter-school exchanges, cooperation, and enhancing compatriots’ sentiments across Taiwan straits.
Wang Guangbin expressed his thanks for our warm reception. He said, according to the instructions of the central Taiwan Affairs Office and Hubei Provincial Taiwan Affairs Office, to further improve the employment of Taiwanese young people, encourage interest in Internships, entrepreneurship and employment in Hubei, the Provincial Government and Taiwan Affairs Office will conduct extensive research to inform the creation of relevant policies. He commended the achievements of our university in the process of introducing Taiwanese professionals. As a pioneer in the province and in the country, our university’s exploration in recruiting channels, professionals’ quality and quantity and personnel management will provide useful and valuable experience to encourage Taiwanese young people who are going to participate in internships, entrepreneurship and employment in Hubei.
After the meeting, the research group of the provincial Taiwan Affairs Office communicated with the Taiwanese faculty representatives in our university. Faculty representatives believe the university is very concerned about their living and working conditions and consequently, they had a very pleasant stay here. They discussed difficulties encountered including: job promotion, scientific research, medical insurance, children' education and other aspects, and processed to have an in-depth discussion on the establishment of a Taiwanese faculty entrepreneurial base and joint applied scientific research subjects.
