2016 AUM Confucius Institute Summer Camp opened at HBUE

On May 26th, the opening ceremony for 2016 AUM Confucius Institute Summer Camp was held at our university. Vice President He Huigang attended the ceremony, together with faculties and student representatives from Student Affairs Department, International Exchange & Cooperation Department, and the School of International Education.

  

He expressed his warm welcome to all 15 AUMCI students for coming all the way from the America and joining this inter-cultural summer camp. As all of them are coming Wuhan for the first time, He introduced our beautiful city and vigorous university. He said, the Confucius Institute of Auburn University at Montgomery not only provides opportunities for American students to come to China in person and get first-hand cultural experience of China, but also plays as a bridge that connecting two universities, boosting the mutual understanding and enhancing the friendship.

  

Dr. Ling Chen Kelly thanked for our warm reception on behalf of the visiting group. He agreed with Dr. He and said different cultural experience is vital to college students in their growing-ups. He hoped both Chinese and American students can make the full use of this summer camp and learn from each other.

  

We have arranged various interesting cultural events for those students during the summer camp, including Chinese language class, Chinese culinary class, dragon boat racing, Taiji practice, Chinese painting, Chinese calligraphy and etc. For the last week, they will go on a trip to Beijing and visit the Forbidden City, Chinese History Museum, Peking University and many other places of interest, so to explore Chinese culture and have a better understanding of China.
