Professor Luo Yuting gave a special report on What makes Civic Studies a key course for moral education - studying the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech at the symposium of Renmin University of China.

Professor Luo Yuting said that General Secretary Xi Jinping once again emphasised that what kind of person to train, how to train and for whom to train is always the fundamental issue of education, which provides a target direction for implementing the fundamental task of cultivating people with moral character, and cultivating new people who can listen to the Party, follow the Party and take up the important task of national rejuvenation. He believes that teachers of Civics should take the spirit of the General Secretary's important speech as their guide and be bold enough to answer the questions of China, the world, the people and the times. He pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed that the essence of a Civics course is to teach reason, and that this reason is the great truth, which is both political and scientific in nature. Teachers of Civic Studies should pay attention to the methods and approaches, promote the reform and innovation of Civic Studies teaching, and strive to make the truth deep, thorough and alive; they should actively lead other kinds of courses to go in the same direction as Civic Studies, so as to form a synergy effect and effectively promote the construction of a high-quality Civic Studies course.

At the same time, Professor Luo Yuting pointed out that the main reason why the Civic Science course can become a key course to establish moral education is that it is a key course to strengthen the foundation, a key course to forge the soul and nurture people, and a key course to counter seepage and prevent changes. The Civics course plays a primary role in the implementation of the fundamental task of establishing moral education and promoting the overall development of students.
