News from this website (Correspondents: Zhang Yang, Feng Jin, Yang Yang) - From November 22nd to 24th, 2023, Professor Gu Chen, the Dean of the Art and Design College, led a delegation to Hangzhou and Jiaxing in Zhejiang for on-site research, visiting several universities and the Hangzhou Cultural and Creative Industry Expo. The delegation included Deputy Dean Zhang Yang, Director of the Animation Department Tao Ran, Deputy Director of the Visual Communication Design Department Feng Jin, Deputy Director of the Environmental Design Department Yang Yang, and the head of the Fine Arts Education Research Office Luo Ying.
The delegation conducted in-depth research visits to Zhejiang Gongshang University in Hangzhou and Zhejiang Media College in Jiaxing, aiming to explore the academic experiences in art disciplines of the two universities and deepen cooperation and exchanges. The research activities received high attention and warm hospitality from the School of Art and Design at Zhejiang Gongshang University and the School of Design and Art at Zhejiang Media College. The delegation gained insights into the educational philosophy, discipline construction, professional characteristics, teaching quality, and research achievements of the two institutions. Dean Gu Chen expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and highly praised the academic achievements of both schools, noting their significant contributions to local economic and social development. She also expressed hope for further collaboration between the two universities and Hubei University of Economics to explore new models of talent cultivation, promote the sharing and optimization of educational resources.
During the symposium, representatives from both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on shared topics of interest. They unanimously agreed that the two universities should strengthen collaboration in talent cultivation, academic research, and community service. The importance of interdisciplinary integration and the exploration of new paths for the development of higher education were emphasized. The joint efforts to enhance the development of art and design professions and improve the quality of talent cultivation were recognized.
After the university exchanges, the research group visited the 17th Hangzhou Cultural and Creative Industry Expo, conducting on-site investigations in five featured pavilions: International Trend Pavilion, Beautiful Heritage Pavilion, Urban Impression Pavilion, New Forces Pavilion, and Future Boundless Pavilion. The group focused on researching exhibitions from universities and cultural and creative institutions in Hangzhou, including Zhejiang University and China Academy of Art, as well as the Asian Games Cultural and Creative Market.
In the International Trend Pavilion, the delegation observed the integration of ancient and modern cultural industry development achievements, gaining insights into the development of cultural and creative industries domestically and internationally, which broadened perspectives for related courses, teaching, and research.
In the Beautiful Heritage Pavilion, the delegation learned that Zhejiang University has achieved significant progress through interdisciplinary integration research, combining design art + cutting-edge technology + cultural heritage + X. Leveraging research strengths in areas such as art theory, innovative design, fine arts, technological archaeology, and cultural relic protection, Zhejiang University has made important advancements in the intersection of art and technology, including digital visualization, virtual restoration of ancient paintings' color, and high-fidelity digitization of cultural relics.
In the Future Boundless Pavilion, the School of Innovative Design at the China Academy of Art showcased a design discipline that highly integrates art, technology, and business. The school actively explores a new mechanism for cultivating talents, serving industries and society through project-based teaching. It has achieved results in the collaborative development of industry, academia, research projects, school-enterprise cooperation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
This research visit provides valuable insights for our college's work in discipline construction, professional development, innovation in talent cultivation models, curriculum and team building, and laboratory construction as part of the New Finance and Economics reform.
