On the afternoon of July 10th, 2020, at the invitation of the Department of Logistics Management of our college, Professor Liu Zhixue, deputy director of the Teaching Steering Committee of the logistics specialty of the Ministry of Education, and a professor of the College of Management of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, gave an online lecture entitled Thoughts on the Construction of the Specialty of Supply Chain Management to help teachers in our college do better in apply for the specialty of logistics management. The lecture was presided over by Associate Professor Wang Lihong, dean of the Department of Logistics Management, and all the teachers of the Department of Logistics Management attended the lecture.
The construction of the undergraduate specialty of supply chain management plays an important role in training talents of supply chain management and promoting the innovation and application of supply chain management in China. Professor Liu Zhixue firstly pointed out that innovation and application of supply chain management had become a national strategy, and that it was necessary to strengthen the training of talents of supply chain management. He said that high-level talents of supply chain management were much needed due to the development of supply chain management service industry, enterprises’ global operation and market competition. Then, Professor Liu Zhixue gave an in-depth explanation on the necessity of the construction of the specialty of supply chain management, the challenges the college would face in the construction process, undergraduate professional training standards, and the comparison of specialty construction between Chinese, British and American universities. He put forward five suggestions on the construction of the specialty of supply chain management that would help to address the existing problems in the Department of Logistics Management: strictly regulate the establishment of undergraduate programs; strengthen the construction of teaching staff of the specialty of supply chain management; promote domestic and international exchanges in the construction of undergraduate programs of supply chain management; accelerate the construction of core courses and textbooks for supply chain management programs; accelerate the establishment of the industry-university-research alliance, including practice and internship bases, and innovation and entrepreneurship bases, for undergraduate specialty of supply chain management.
Later, Professor Liu Zhixue provided guidance on the application of the specialty of supply chain management and other first-class specialties that the Department of Logistics Management was carrying out, and had a heated discussion with teachers on the establishment of industry-university-research alliance, the construction of undergraduate teaching system, and the way to improve teachers' knowledge structure. Finally, Dean Wang Lihong made a systematic summary of the lecture and expressed gratitude to Professor Liu Zhixue for his wonderful lecture.
