On the morning of January 15, 2025, our school invited Professor Guan Xu from Huazhong University of Science and Technology to deliver an academic lecture titled "A Blessing or a Curse? Teletriage Service in Healthcare" in Room 412 of Qunxian Building. The lecture was presided over by Vice Dean Qian Ling and attended by all full-time faculty members of the school.
Professor Guan Xu's paper, "A Blessing or a Curse? Teletriage Service in Healthcare," has been formally accepted by the internationally renowned academic journal Management Science. The paper investigates the emerging healthcare service model of teletriage, innovatively characterizing the interactive decision-making behaviors between hospitals and patients under teletriage services. It is the first study to reveal the optimal teletriage service provision strategies for hospitals and to analyze the impact mechanisms of teletriage services on patient welfare and social welfare. Additionally, the paper explores the regulatory effects of policy instruments such as medical pricing controls and teletriage service fee controls on the implementation efficiency of teletriage services. With his profound academic expertise, Professor Guan Xu provided an in-depth explanation of the paper. Subsequently, he offered individual guidance on the fund application proposals of each faculty member, addressing common issues in the writing process and refining the overall research approaches.
The lecture delivered by Professor Guan Xu not only guided the faculty in deeply contemplating scientific research issues but also cultivated rigorous scientific thinking and robust research methodologies. It enhanced the faculty's research literacy and innovation capabilities, laying a solid foundation for future research endeavors.
