We conducted in-depth research at the forefront of the industry

On May 23, 2025, to gain an on-site understanding of the role of logistics costs in the clothing industry's industrial upgrading within our province, a research team from our university, composed of faculty members such as Duan Lijie, Huang Dongmei, Liang Jingjing, Hu Ran, and Ma Can, along with students, conducted field research at the clothing industry park in Maozui Town, Xiantao City. The team visited multiple enterprises, including Zomahua Wei and Yixuan, and conducted interviews, observations, and data collection to comprehensively analyze the production, logistics, sales, and employment status of the local clothing industry, providing new insights for industrial development.

As a leading local enterprise, Zoman Huawei Garment Factory boasts an annual turnover exceeding 100 million yuan, with a stable workforce. The factory primarily distributes its goods nationwide via Wuhan as a transit hub. Although cost-saving measures such as containerized truck transport were once discussed, they have yet to be implemented due to factors like scattered shipments and high timeliness requirements. In terms of raw material procurement, some fabrics are delivered directly from Hanchuan to the factory, while others require transit through Wuhan. Local fabric loading centers primarily source materials from Guangzhou, with daily shipments dispatched to Qianjiang, Tianmen, and Xiantao. Transportation costs are calculated based on distance and cargo volume.

This research provided faculty and students with valuable practical opportunities. Through frontline interviews, team members gained insights into the operational details of each link in the apparel industry supply chain, laying the foundation for subsequent proposals on logistics optimization, cost control, and market expansion. Meanwhile, the apparel industry in Xiantao Maowei Town is at a pivotal moment of transformation. Finding a balance between cost, efficiency, and social responsibility will be key to overcoming its bottlenecks. This research may offer crucial reference for this process.
