On December 1st, Yangtze River Economic Belt Enterprise Green Development Forum 2018, hosted by Hubei University of Economics (HBUE), School of Business Administration of HBUE and Hubei Enterprise Culture Research Center, was held in the Conference Center of Hetian Hotel in Wuhan, Hubei Province. The theme of the forum is “Green Development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt – Leading the New Era”. Attended the meeting were more than 100 experts and scholars from many universities and enterprises such as the National Development and Reform Commission, Hubei Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences , Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Huazhong Agricultural University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Yangtze University, Beihang University, Jinling Institute of Technology, Zhuoer Development Co., Ltd., Capitaland Group, LG Group. Wen Xingsheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of HBUE attended the meeting. Professor Chen Xiangjun, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of HBUE and Vice President, presided over the meeting.
On behalf of HBUE, Wen Xingsheng expressed warm welcome to the participating experts and scholars, and introduced the basic information of school development from such aspects as development history, discipline construction, scientific research, and personnel training. He pointed out that HBUE has a long history, but with only a 16-year construction, it has achieved a leap-forward development as well as continuous improvement in performance and reputation. The green development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt has a strategic significance in the overall pattern of regional development in China, he emphasized, saying that this conference will definitely promote the green development and high-quality development of enterprises in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
During the meeting, Wu Xiaohua, Vice President of the National Institute of Macroeconomic Research of the National Development and Reform Commission, put a detailed interpretation on China's strategy and tasks for promoting the green development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, emphasizing that the promotion of the Belt is a major strategic deployment of the Central Committee of the Communist Party with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core. He also gave a further explanation of the development strategy of the Belt by General Secretary Xi Jinping as well as the seven major tasks to promote the high-quality development of the Belt.
Qin Zunwen, Vice President of Hubei Academy of Social Sciences, introduced the important role of enterprises in the green development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Dean Qin pointed out that maximizing the role of the company is the requirement and hope of General Secretary Xi Jinping when inspecting Hubei, breaking through the development of high-tech industries, accelerating the transformation and upgrading of traditional manufacturing industries, taking a lead in the circular development of the park, and vigorously developing green agriculture and its processing industry, promoting the "two-type" development of service industry and promoting cooperation on cross-regional green industry development. Through the implementation of all these actions, enterprises in Hubei will have a greater role in the green development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
Cao Tianbin, Vice President of Zhuoer Zhilian Group, perfectly illustrated the social responsibility of the company in terms of green development with the practical experience of enterprise management. Taking “Green Zhuoer” as a case, Cao showed the experts and scholars the sense of undertaking and responsibility of the company in terms of green development from aspects such as green energy, green team, green building, green cycle, green planning, green benefit, green economy, green row, green products, green mechanism innovation, green operation, green development and e-commerce poverty alleviation.
At the forum, Professor Zhang Yifei, Director of the Center for Green Economy and Trade of Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, used panel data from 29 provinces in 2003-2015 to discuss the green contribution and environmental equity in the Yangtze River Economic Belt region; Prof. Zhang Liguo, Dean of School of Economics of Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, analyzed the existing problems of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and put forward the ideas and specific measures of green harmonious development of the Belt; Professor Wang Jianming, Associate Dean of the School of Business Administration of Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, studied the impact of green emotional appeals on the decision-making process of green purchase from the perspective of green consumption and shared the specific research results of the implementation of green marketing; Professor Qiu Qiu, Dean of the School of Law of Hubei University of Economics, introduced the latest research progress of the Yangtze River Protection Law; Chen Yun, researcher of Hubei Corporate Culture Research Center, pointed out the new challenges faced by Chinese private enterprises in the new era in the report "Story, Culture and Enterprise on legitimacy" , and analyzed the theory related to the construction of stories and corporate legitimacy.
The meeting was held on the occasion of in-depth study and implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping's green development thoughts. Experts and scholars at the meeting said that this forum will be used as an opportunity to build a platform for exchanges and further cooperation research, and to provide suggestions for the green development of enterprises in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
