The first University English Public Speech Teaching Forum, co-hosted by Hubei Provincial Public Speech Association, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, and Hubei University of Economics, was held on November 22 in HBUE. More than 40 experts and scholars from Central China Normal University, Hubei University, Wuhan Huaxia Institute of Technology, Wuhan Institute of Communication, etc., attended the forum.

Professor Yang Chunyan, Deputy Dean of School of Foreign Languages, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Zhou Hongbing, director of the English Public Speech Committee, gave a speech on the work summary of the English Public Speech Association in 2019 and work plan for 2020. Hou Xianglang, associate professor from HBUE, gave a keynote speech entitled Learner-centered Theories, Methods and Experiences in Teaching Design of English Public Speech Class. Gong Li, associate professor from Wuhan University of Media and Arts, gave a keynote speech entitled Implementation Strategies for English Speech Contests under the Idea of Innovation Practice. The Director from Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press introduced theNational English Speech Contest and the Foreign Language Research Institute's seminars for young and middle-aged teachers. The forum was chaired by Wang Lili, associate professor from Wuhan Huaxia Institute of Technology. The participating teachers also had a very lively discussion on the teaching of English Public Speaking Class.
