(Reporter: Xia Lili) On the afternoon of July 15, 2020, the School of Foreign Languages organized the students of 2017 to attend a lecture on “Development Opportunities of Foreign Languages + CBEC” through the Tencent Meeting. The speaker Deng Shuixiang is a Galleon CBEC Partner and the General Manager of Wyasset. Based on his personal experience and understanding, Mr. Deng introduced the overall development prospects as well as relevant preferential policies of CBEC, and analyzed major advantages of foreign language students in CBEC, which will provide numerous employment opportunities for them. At the same time, he reminded that the students need to learn and understand the local cultures and lifestyles through the foreign languages, rather than regarding them merely as a communication tool. Only the products compatible with local consumption habits and cultural connotations will survive. After the lecture, the students further interacted and communicated with the speaker through actively asking questions. Mr. Deng introduced that he has been engaged in equity investment and overseas asset allocation for years; in 2016, the equity funds he managed invested in a CBEC company in Hangzhou, and gained the returns of more than 50% when they quit 6 months later; and he is currently responsible for Galleon CBEC strategic planning and student entrepreneurship incubation. As an official partner of eBay in China, Galleon CBEC is an enterprise engaged in CBEC operation, training, investment and incubation; the company has established industry-education integration partnership with more than 10 universities in Wuhan, and developed more than 700 CBEC talents in 2019. Wyasset is mainly engaged in private equity investment through pre-ipo and M&A investment.
