Contestants from HBUE Win Prizes in the Hubei Final of the 9th SFLEP National Foreign Language Teaching Contest

  

  

The Hubei Final of the 9th SFLEP National Foreign Language Teaching Contest (English major group) was concluded at Wuhan Institute of Technology on September 22nd. After a fierce competition, Wang Ruiji, one of business English teachers of the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) of HBUE, won the Special Prize for the Business English Major group. Zhang Jinjun and Wan Pengyun, also teachers of SFL, won the First Prize for the Business English Major group and for the English Major group respectively. SFL teacher Li Hongmei won the Third Prize for the English Major group. Wang, as the representative of Hubei Province, would run in the National Finals to be held in late November this year in Shanghai.

  

The contest gathered contestants from colleges and universities in Hubei Province. After the competition, Professor Wang Haixiao, the Secretary General of Foreign Language Teaching Steering Committee of Colleges under the Ministry of Education and also the professor of Nanjing University, made a detailed and wonderful comment on performances of the contestants. This contest was considered to have promoted the teaching exchange of College English teachers in Hubei, and was of great significance to improving the quality and level of foreign language teaching in its colleges and universities.

  

As an important national competition relating to foreign language education, the SFLEP National Foreign Language Teaching Contest has been held for nine years consecutively. Influencing all the colleges and universities, the contest has become an important teaching and research event, pioneering in the national English teaching reform, providing an important platform for encouraging advanced teaching ideas and promoting teaching exchanges.
