From August 20 to 23, the Sixth University Young Teachers’ Teaching Competition in Hubei Province sponsored by Hubei Education Union, was held in Central China Normal University. Ninety-three teachers from forty-three universities and colleges across Hubei competed in the three-day competition. Xiao Zhihong took part in the competition set for the foreign language group on behalf of HBUE. After more than seven hours’ fierce competition, Xiao won the second prize for the foreign language group with her excellent performance.
The competition is held every two years in Hubei. Under the guidance of “teaching an excellent lesson”, the competition is composed of three parts: teaching design, classroom teaching and on-site defense. Its requirements are high with much participation and fierce competition. It is also extremely challenging for the contestants. The winners will be awarded such an honorary title as Outstanding Hubei Young Teachers by the Provincial Education Department and the Provincial Education Union.
The HBUE Union and the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) attached great importance to the competition and supported all their contestants. SFL made good preparation for the competition by improving contesting teachers’ team cooperation and trial practice. The HBUE Union was appraised as “An Excellent Organizational Unit” for its coordination and supportive services.
Since 2010, HBUE has sent 5 teachers to participate in the competition, and five prizes have been awarded, including 2 second prizes, 1 third prize and 2 outstanding prizes.
