Li was returning home from the winter break when the outbreak began. At that time, information on epidemic prevention and control would be followed through the news every day to keep abreast of the latest developments. Said Li Lingyu. After learning that the community was recruiting volunteers for epidemic prevention and control, she immediately signed up after receiving support from her family. On February 24, she went to the community and volunteered to hand out masks.
February is a critical period for epidemic prevention and control. Epidemic prevention supplies are not very sufficient, and masks are especially out of stock. Li's task is to register residents and distribute face masks to eligible residents. Wearing a yellow volunteer vest, Li Lingyu started her volunteer work. She thought the job would be easy, but the reality taught her a vivid lesson. Masks are out of stock, and those who do not receive them will inevitably blame and complain. Li Lingyu, who was in charge of the distribution, took a lot of fire”. As a girl, she had no experience in coping with it, so she just smiled and waited for her partner to calm down before continuing to explain.
I was afraid at first, afraid of being infected, afraid of not being good at communicating with people. Said Li Lingyu. After coming to the community for a period of time, I saw that the residents could be at ease to fight the epidemic at home, the community staff went all out, and all kinds of caring epidemic prevention supplies were soon enough. My fear and worry gradually disappeared, replaced by a strong sense of responsibility. She took the initiative to consult community staff, opened her heart to residents, asked appeals for understanding and support. After a period of time, Li Lingyu not only successfully completed the work of distributing masks, but also assisted the community to register the information of residents returning to Guangdong and taught them to use mobile phones for the qualification of elderly care. She became a versatile person in community affairs.
For 103 days from February 24 to June 5, Li Lingyu went to work in the community every Monday to Friday, rain or shine. Community work is complex, and to be competent, patience and carefulness are indispensable qualities. Good coordination and communication are indispensable skills. Said Li Lingyu.
