(Correspondent: Yan Nianchi) On the afternoon of March 20,2019, the Seminar on the Theory and Practice of Judicial Social Work in the New Era, jointly organized by the Department of Civil Affairs of Hubei Province, the Department of Justice of Hubei Province, the Hubei School of Economics and the Hubei Social Work Federation, was successfully held in the Report Hall No. 4 of the College Students’ Activity Center of Hubei University of Economics. Liu Dahong, Professor of Hubei Economic College, Hou Jiangbo, first-level inspector of the Hubei Judicial Department, and Wang Xingfu, second-level inspector of the provincial Civil Affairs department, attended the seminar and delivered speeches. More than 180 participants from the provincial community correction administration, provincial social work federation, Jingzhou prison and other relevant units, University experts, scholars and representatives of social workers participated in the seminar.

Following the theme of Theory and Practice of Judicial Work in the New Era, this seminar, with multi-subject participation, has conducted in-depth discussions on such topics as “Research on Theory and System of Judicial Social Work”, “Practical Exploration of Judicial Social Work”, “Construction of Judicial Social Work Talents Team”.People in charge of social work organizations such as Zhuoran Social Work Service Center in Jiangan District of Wuhan made an exchange of speeches. It is unanimously agreed that judicial social work has broad prospects and obvious roles. It requires departments to join forces and universities to jointly cultivate professionals and service institutions to form a joint force.

It is understood that in recent years, important progress has been made in the theoretical research and practical exploration of judicial social work in our province.Hanyang District of Wuhan City, Fancheng District of Xiangyang City, Shashi District of Jingzhou City, Yiling District of Yichang City, etc. adopt the way of government purchasing social work services, actively explore social work services in the judicial field such as community correction, caring for the children of prisoners,minors'procuratorial work, drug control, etc., which have been welcomed and praised by the clients and all sectors of society.
