HBUE President Delegation visited SUT and UWS in Australia

 

During August 11-13, a delegation led by President Lu Xiaocheng visited Swinburne University of Technology and The University of Western Sydney in Australia. The delegation members included Liu Ning, the director of the Graduate School, and Wanghong, the director of International Exchange & Cooperation Department.

 

On the 11th, the delegation visited Swinburne University of Technology at Melbourne and received a warm welcome from Jeffrey Smart, Vice President of Swinburne University of Technology. Mr. Smart later introduced some of the universities new developments in teaching, scientific research and students activities. He said the cooperation between the two universities has a very good foundation and their partnership has become tighter with the implementation of substantial cooperation. The Vice President said Swinburne University of Technology attaches great importance to our partnership and he hopes we will further deepen and broaden our cooperation.

Lu Xiaocheng said that our universities foster successful cooperation and exchange thanks to mutual trust between the related persons in charge of cooperation. Our universities hope to promote cooperation and exchange activities in the field of undergraduate and graduate education in the future, and particularly to strengthen the exchange of teachers.

 

Lu Xiaocheng and Jeffrey Smart signed two new frameworks to the cooperation memorandum for the undergraduate program; they hope to lay a foundation for the future development of student exchange, visiting teachers, joint education of master’s programs, and short-term academic and research exchange programs. After the signing of the agreement, the two sides carried out specific cooperation projects for the negotiations. The delegation also spoke with HBUE exchange students and teachers at Swinburne University of Technology.

 

During August 12 -13, the delegation visited the University of Western Sydney. At the Parramatta campus the school's vice president, Professor Chester Bendall, warmly welcomed the delegation from our school and expressed his desire for long-term cooperation. The relevant person in charge of school affairs introduced the basic situation of the school as well as its international development plan. Substantive discussions between the two sides included plans to carry out in-depth exchange and cooperation including: exchanging teachers to study, hosting international conferences, opening up graduate and undergraduate exchange student programs, joint training of graduate students, etc.
