The 3rd Board of Advisors Meeting of the Confucius Institute was held
On March 19, The 3rd Board of Advisors Meeting of the Confucius Institute was recently held in our university. This Confucius institute was co-established by Auburn University at Montgomery and HBUE. Representatives in attendance at the Board meeting included: Dr. Lv Zhongmei, the President of HBUE, Dr. John G. Veres III, the President of Auburn University at Montgomery, Yang Wenzhong, the director of the Confucius Institute, Hu Lei, the vice director of the Confucius institute, Ms. Sieu Tang Wood and Mr. Y. T. Tsai who are board members of the Confucius institute , Prof. Wang Hong, director of International Exchanges & Cooperation Department, Xia Baoguo, the deputy director of Chinese Cuisine Culture Training Base.
On behalf of the school Dr. Lv Zhongmei extended a warm welcome to the delegations of Dr. Veres and proposed thanks to the great contribution to bilateral cooperation that president Veres has made. She said that since its construction, the Confucius institute has made a series of great achievements with every project making a new progress. She also stated that she wished to take this meeting as an opportunity to promote the relations between two schools into a new level and to make a new breakthrough on exchanges and cooperation in new fields. At the same time, the function of the Confucius institute also needs to be extended in cultural exchanges and students' occupational planning in order to realize the full potential of the Confucius institute.
Dr John G. Veres III also expressed his gratitude to our host of this board meeting. He said that Hubei University of Economics is a strong partner and that he is very glad to return to Wuhan again to discuss the planning and development strategy of the Confucius Institute. He expressed that, under the joint efforts of two schools, the Confucius institute will flourish and make great contributions to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship.
During the meeting the 2014 annual report and financial budget report of the Confucius Institute was reviewed, and the development plans 2015 were established. The details of the building design of the Confucius Institute were further discussed later.
