










From October 24th to 25th, the Wuhan Forum for World-Renowned Scientists to Give Lectures in Hubei and the 12th International Symposium on Market-oriented Green and Low-Carbon Development was held in Wuhan, Hubei Province. More than 200 experts and scholars from over 20 universities including Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Kunming University of Science and Technology, and Nanjing University of Finance and Economics attended the conference.
This conference was hosted by Hubei University of Economics, co - organized by the Provincial - Ministry Co - constructed Collaborative Innovation Center for Carbon Emission Rights Trading, the School of Low - Carbon Economy, and the Editorial Department of Environmental Economic Research, and co - sponsored by the Institute of Contemporary China Studies at Tsinghua University, the School of Applied Economics at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the International Society for Energy Transition, etc. The theme of the conference is Green and Low - Carbon Transition and Global Value Chains. On October 24th, participants will be organized to visit two enterprises, namely Wuhan Golden Disk Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. and CRRC Yangtze Rolling Stock Co., Ltd. On October 25th, the main conference will be held at Hubei University of Economics. The conference schedule includes an opening ceremony, keynote reports, thematic speeches, a round - table forum, a journal forum, an entrepreneurs' forum, and six parallel forums.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Fu Hong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of Hubei University of Economics. Professor Fang Jie, President of Hubei University of Economics, delivered a welcome speech. Wang Hongling, Vice Chairperson of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, He Kaiwen, Director of the Hubei Provincial Department of Natural Resources, Tian Qi, Second - Class Inspector of the Hubei Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, and Huang Nianping, Second - Class Inspector of the Hubei Provincial Department of Education, delivered speeches respectively.
The first keynote presentation was chaired by Xue Jinjun, the director of the Carbon Neutrality Innovation Joint Laboratory of Nagoya University - Zhongchuang Carbon Investment, the chief scientist of the Ministry of Education's Provincial-Supplementary Collaborative Innovation Center for Carbon Emission Trading, and a visiting professor at Tsinghua University. The European Academy of Sciences and Arts Fellow, Professor Yan Jin Yue from the Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Professor FUJITA Tsuyoshi from the Faculty of Engineering at Tokyo University and the Professor of the Regional Circular Symbiosis System Research Laboratory, all delivered their speeches. Guo Jiemin, a senior researcher at the Bureau of Economic Analysis of the US Department of Commerce, director of strategic planning at the National Climate Strategy Center, and vice-chair of the Environmental and Development Technology Expert Committee of the United Nations Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific, Chai Qiming, a researcher at the Modern Management Research Center of Tsinghua University, Llewelyn Hughes, a professor at the Crawford School of Public Policy of the Australian National University, director of the Climate, Energy and Disaster Solutions Institute (ICEDS), Shabbir H Gheewala, a professor at the Energy and Environment Joint Research Institute (JGSEE) of King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), delivered keynote speeches on hot issues in the green and low-carbon fields such as interdisciplinary paths for sustainable energy, circular economy and carbon neutrality, global supply chains and value chains, global carbon neutrality transformation, low-carbon energy transition, and energy economic systems, sharing the latest research findings.
The second keynote speech was chaired by Professor Yan Fei, the dean of the Low Carbon Economy Institute and the executive deputy director of the Provincial-Ministerial Jointly Constructed Collaborative Innovation Center for Carbon Emission Rights Trading. The speakers included Dai Yongping, a senior advisor from Tencent's strategic development department, a visiting researcher at the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies of Renmin University of China, and a former chief energy expert at the Asian Development Bank; Shao Shuai, a distinguished professor at Tongji University's School of Economics and Management and a national high-level leading talent; Zhang Shaohui, a researcher at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Austria; Yin Xiaopeng, the former director of the Global Value Chain Research Institute at the University of International Business and Economics and the director of the first batch of the National Philosophy and Social Sciences Laboratories Global Value Chain Laboratory; Meng Bo, a senior researcher at the Asian Economic Research Institute of the Japan Trade Promotion Agency and a researcher at the Institute of Development and Environmental Governance of Tsinghua University; and Meng Bo, a senior researcher at the Asian Economic Research Institute of the Japan Trade Promotion Agency and an associate researcher at the Institute of Development and Environmental Governance of Tsinghua University. They delivered keynote speeches on hot issues in the field of low-carbon economy and green development, such as enterprises' dual carbon practices, carbon neutrality technological innovations, air pollution control, new liberal arts construction, global green value chains, and low-carbon emission reduction policies.
The roundtable discussion was chaired by Wang Kuo-ying, the vice dean and professor of the Low Carbon Economy Institute. The speakers included Professor Gao Shansheng, a life-long professor of accounting and finance at the Business School of Edinburgh Royal University in the UK, and Sun Yongping, the vice dean of the National Governance Research Institute of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and a distinguished professor appointed by the university.Professor Hou Jieze from Donghua University in Taiwan, who also serves as the secretary-general of the Taiwan Financial Education AssociationTang Renhu, the chairman of Beijing Zhongchuang Carbon Investment Technology Co., Ltd., Ma Xianfeng, the vice president of Beijing Green Finance Association and the chairman of Zhongcai Technology, and Yan Zhongning, the president of Wuhan Dual-Carbon Industry Research Institute, engaged in exchanges from multiple perspectives regarding China's new journey in responding to climate change and leading the global green and low-carbon transformation.
The journal forum was hosted by Yan Fei, the editor-in-chief of Environmental Economic Research. Experts from 10 outstanding domestic journals including China Population • Resources and Environment, Changjiang River Basin Resources and Environment, Journal of China University of Geosciences (Social Sciences Edition), Statistics and Information Forum, Economic Review, Contemporary Economic Science, Xi'an Jiaotong University Journal (Social Sciences Edition), International Finance Research, and International Finance conducted in-depth discussions and provided professional opinions on the topic selection and writing of Chinese papers regarding green and low-carbon issues. They also answered questions raised by the participants, such as Artificial Intelligence and Paper Writing. The entrepreneur forum focused on in-depth discussions on the innovative model demands for the growth of AI computing power during the 15th Five-Year Plan period regarding the demand for clean energy. On the 6 parallel forums, over 100 experts, scholars, and industry elites participated in the presentations. The topics covered a wide range, and representatives from all sides discussed in-depth on the core theme of green and low-carbon transformation and the global value chain.
The Wuhan Forum for World-Renowned Scientists to Give Lectures in Hubei was hosted by Hubei University of Economics. It brought together experts from all over the world to conduct in-depth discussions on Promoting Adaptive Changes in International Rules, Building an Efficient Global Collaborative Governance System, and Achieving Green Recovery and Sustainable Development of the Global Economy, and achieved significant results.The twelve consecutive International Symposium on Market-Oriented Green Low-Carbon Development have become a key platform for academic exchanges and intellectual collisions in this field. Its influence has been continuously increasing in the academic and industrial circles.
