On the morning of October 23, 2021, the webinar on AUM-HBUE joint program in the specialty of Information Management and Information System for students and parents of 2021 cohort was held in the Auditorium of the Student Activity Center. The President Dr. Carl Stockton, The Vice President Dr. Mrinal Varma, The President Assistant Dr. Shanta Varma, and the Program Coordinator Alice Jia from the side of Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) were specially invited to participate the meeting online. Guests from HBUE side include: Dr. Fu Hong, the Vice President, Wang Hong, Director of the International Exchange & Cooperation Department, Zhang Jinjun, deputy director of the International Exchange & Cooperation Department, Sun Jingyue, Secretary of the Party committee of the School of Information Management and Statistics, Zhu Xiaobo, Vice Dean and the program manager of the School of Information Management and Statistics. The meeting was presided over by the Director Wang Hong and attended by all students of 2021 cohort. Parents of the students joined the live meeting online.
In the video welcome speech, President Fang Jie thanked the students for choosing our joint program, and also extended a warm welcome to the students and parents participating in the online meeting. President Fang introduced our school background and the prospect and advantages of the program. It is hoped that students will cherish the rare learning opportunities, make good use of the resources and platforms provided by the school, lay a solid professional foundation and strive to become high-quality international information management talents.
Dr. Carl Stockton, President of AUM, said in his welcome remarks that he missed the students of HBUE very much. During the nine years of operation of the program, AUM has provided high-quality teaching and safe learning and living conditions for students studying in the United States. He looked forward to students going to AUM to study and have cultural exchanges with American students in the future.
In his speech, Vice President Fu Hong emphasized the discipline advantages and talent training quality of our university. The school will continue to make greater efforts to introduce international advanced educational ideas and resources, give full play to the professional advantages of Chinese and American characteristic, and constantly improve the quality of the curriculum. President Fu hoped that the program students will strive to learn professional knowledge well, strengthen the cultivation of cross-cultural communicative competence, constantly improve their comprehensive quality and strive to become comprehensive international talents with professional knowledge and cross-cultural communicative ability
After the webinar, teachers and students took a group photo together. AUM meets and communicates with the program freshmen each year. Affected by the epidemic situation, this year is the second time that the communication activity was held by combining online and offline methods. This time, parents of students of the program are specially invited to watch and participate at the same time. Both students and parents said after the meeting that the activity was very meaningful, deepened their understanding of the project and was conducive to later academic development and planning.
