President Delegation from The California State University-Stanislaus Visited HBUE

On December 16th a delegation from the California State University-Stanislaus (CSU Stanislaus) visited Hubei University of Economics (HBUE). The delegation was led by President Joseph F. Sheley. On behalf of HBUE, President Lv Zhongmei signed a co-operation agreement with the delegation. Vice President Qi Laying warmly welcomed the guests, and consulted Mr. Sheley on various issues.

During the consultation Mr. Qi said that “HBUE has had interactions with CSU in Stanislaus for a long time. During one of the more recent interactions in the summer of 2014, students from our School of Finance took part in a study-abroad program in your university, which greatly enhanced the substantive co-operation between the schools. We should promote mutual understanding, and gradually strengthen co-operation in fields like teacher-student communication and academic research. I hope this meeting will help us reach an agreement and set the foundation for further co-operation in the future.”

Mr. Sheley expressed his admiration for the progress that HBUE has attained in recent years. He also praised the quality of students in the program and their exceptional study habits. Mr. Sheley welcomed more students from HBUE to come and study in CSU in Stanislaus. He provided introductions on their credit-transfer system, distance learning resources, visiting scholar and student internship programs in America. Mr Sheley answered Mr Qi’s questions about advantages of co-operative programs between the schools, program requirements, the expense of studying in America and perspectives for post-graduate studies. He is looking forward to futher co-operations between the two universities.

Afterward the delegation went to the School of Finance to meet with students in the 2014 and 2015 study-abroad programs and replied to their questions. They later toured the HBUE campus including a visit to the two museums in the library.
