President Delegation from Auburn University at Montgomery visited our university

On September 15th, John G. Veres III, President of Auburn University at Montgomery and his delegation visited our university. They were warmly welcomed by Party Secretary Wen Xingsheng and Vice President He Huigang of Hubei University of Economics.

During the meeting, Wen Xingsheng extended his warm welcome to the U.S. delegation, on behalf of Hubei University of Economics and its President Lv Zhongmei. Mr. Wen stated that Hubei University of Economics has built a solid and lasting cooperation with Auburn University at Montgomery in the formation of a very successful joint undergraduate degree program. The spread of Chinese culture to universities abroad is due largely to the efforts of the Confucius Institute on university campuses such as the one at Auburn University at Montgomery.

President Veres said that Hubei University of Economics is the most powerful and excellent partner in China of Auburn University at Montgomery. The collaboration has had both great harmony and intensity. “It is right and wise to put the spreading of Chinese cuisine as the focus of the Confucius Institute’s expansion.” said President Veres. He hoped that with the support of Hubei University of Economics, the Confucius Institute would become far more distinctive.

After the meeting, the U.S. guests accompanied by Vice President He Huigang, attended the freshman orientation of the American-Sino Joint education program organized by the School of Information Management. He Huigang gave advice to the students on improving their study habits and suggested that they continue developing their skills in English. President Veres congratulated the students for entering the program and their successful enrollment in Auburn University at Montgomery. During a question and answer session, Veres patiently answered questions from students and encouraged them to work hard and adapt to university life as best as they could.

The delegation also visited the Culinary Arts building. Afterward, they discussed plans for the expansion of the Confucius Institute at Auburn University at Montgomery which will feature Chinese cuisine.
